Learning about mosques
Today we have been learning that the mosque is a special place where Muslims go to worship. We have been drawing and labelling parts of the mosque.

Black History Month
As part of black history month we have been learning about the story of Ruby Bridges. We have role-played the story, thought of words to describe Ruby and have recited a poem written about the brave little girl. Tomorrow we will be reciting the poem in front of the whole school.
Practising our numbers
In the mornings we practised are writing. Sometimes we practise our letters. Today we have been practising our numbers.

Identify the smell
Today we have been learning about sense of smell. We have been smelling different foods and objects and trying to work out what they are. Some smelled better than others!

Learning about continents
Today we have been finding about the countries that we come from and the continents they are in. We have been using Google Earth find them on the computer and have labelled a map to show the different continents.

Our first Big Write
Today we have been doing our first Big Write. A Big Write is a piece of extended writing and we will be doing one every few weeks. this week we are retelling the story of Dogger by Shirley Hughes. We have been reading lots of Shirley Hughes books this term.

Number lines

Special guests
Today we had some special guests into year 1! Mrs Sherwin (Mr Sherwin's wife) came in with baby Isaac to talk about all the ways in which she (and Mr Sherwin) look after him. We asked her questions and spoke politely with clear voices.
