Observation skills

We kept up our observation skills at playtime. The children noticed what looked like a rainbow in the sky. Very strange!

Ice investigation

This afternoon we have been investigating ice. We have been making predictions about the place where if would stay frozen the longest and testing to see if we were right. We also held ice cubes and used observation skills to describe the look an feel of them.

Typing skills

In ICT we have been learning how to type using both our hands. It's really difficult!

Making toys from recycled materials

Today we have been learning about how children make toys from recycled materials. We have been making our own toys using wire.

Making toys

Today we have been making toys. We have made spinning wheels, take dolls and ball and cups.

Old toys

As part of our history work we have been looking at some very old toys today. Some of them are very different to the toys we have today.

Early morning writing

This week we have started writing sentences earlier in the morning while Mr Sherwin does the register. We have been making sure it is our best writing. Today we have been writing about our favourite animals.

Writing sentences

Today in literacy we have been practising how to write sentences. We have been using capital letters at the start, finger spaces and full stops.

Super homework

Year One are producing some lovely pieces of homework. Remember that for one of the weeks you can choose your own activity!

Following instructions

In literacy today we have been learning about instructions. We have been reading instructions to make our own bears that move.

Money raised

Our class have raised £103 for Children in Need from selling the iced biscuits this week! 1G have also raised money from their popcorn sales.Well done and thank you to everyone who has helped, especially Miss Begum, who has been busy everyday organising and selling our tasty treats.

Non fiction writing

Today we have been writing pages For our own non-fiction book. Our non-fiction book is going to be all about toys.

Making bears

Today ICT the computers couldn't get onto the Internet so we could not do our planned activity. Instead we used to paint to make some pictures of bears and they were very very good.

Divali

This week we have been learning about Diwali. Today we have been making Rangoli patterns and colouring the them in.

Changing materials

Today we have been looking at how we can change the shape of materials and whether the change is reversible.

Biscuit bar

Today Year One started selling biscuits to raise money for children in need. Sales went well and we raised lots of money.

Children in need

With Children In Need coming up next week Year One have been busy making posters to promote their fundraising. Next week Year One will be holding food sales in the playground to raise money.

Teddy Baptism

Today Year One were joined by a special visitor from the church who taught us about baptism. She baptised our class teddy and the children baptised their own teddies.

Teddy bear day

If you go into year one today you're in for a big surprise...because it's teddy bear day and all the children have brought in their own teddy bears to celebrate the start of our new topic 'Teddy Bears'.
