Trip to All Saints
Today we went for a trip to All Saints Church to look at the different features. We had a lovely tour and sketched and labelled features we saw.
A huge thank you to all the church staff and adult helpers for helping to make this trip possible.

Making houses
This afternoon we made houses in lots of different ways. We coloured in houses by rubbing them on different textured surfaces, we made houses out of Lego, houses out of blocks, and we learned how to make corner joins using card triangles.
The Little Red Hen
Today in literacy we were retelling the story of the little red hen. We used microphones to record ourselves.

Investigating corner joins
In the next few weeks we will be designing and making our own houses. We want the houses to be nice and strong. So in preparation, today the children investigated the best way to join the two walls. We used the process of 'trial and improvement' to find the best way of joining. It's difficult to decide on what 'best' means; strongest, best looking or easiest to make?

Snow day!
What a day we had yesterday!
With snow falling and many children unable to make it in, 1S were joined by children from 1G for the day.
We did lots of fun things including:
Snow picture colouring,
Making paper snowflakes,
Making symmetrical snowflakes on the computers,
Testing how long snow took to melt,
Looking at snow and other materials through the digital microscope,
'Snowpig' building,
Painting snowy pictures,
Writing about why we like snow,
And even a snowball fight!!!
Well done to all those who we able to make it in. (Pupils, parents and staff!)

Ordering numbers
In numeracy last week the children picked up numbers and placed them on a number line. They then also showed the numbers that are one more and one less than those numbers.
The creation story
Last week we were learning about the Christian creation story. The children drew pictures to show the different things that God created.
